Several Aurigny flights have been cancelled or disrupted between Alderney and Guernsey and Alderney and Southampton between March 21 and 26, 2026. Aurigny Air Services is Guernsey’s main airline, operating most of the flights to and from the island. It confirmed on March 20 that the flight disruptions were due to unforeseen pilot absences at Skybus.

Cancellations for passenger ease

The airline has stated that the reason for cancelling the flights and services in advance of these dates was that it wanted to give passengers ample time to arrange alternative travel plans.

Aurigny has asked passengers not to directly contact the airline and have emailed alternative options for travel to those affected by these cancellations.

Skybus’s pilot absences

According to the airline, the cause of the disruption to these flights was Skybus’s pilot absences. Skybus managing director, Jonathan Hinkles has apologised for the inconvenience on behalf of Skybus. He added:

“We took immediate steps to advise Aurigny as quickly as possible of our operational capabilities at this time and to ensure that they can support customers with the best alternatives possible.”

Skybus is the airline Aurigny uses for their services in order to operate to and from Guernsey, Alderney and other locations. The absence of many Skybus pilots was unexpected and therefore caused operational issues.
