Swissport, a global provider of airport ground services and air cargo handling, has signed an agreement to form a joint venture with UNEX Aviation Services, a Jakarta-based ground handling company. This joint venture will strengthen Swissport’s position in the Indonesian and Asia-Pacific market.

Swissport’s Expansion Into Indonesia
Swissport operates at more than 300 airports worldwide. It will build on UNEX’s existing local operations and operate in additional Indonesian airports.
Warwick Brady, president and CEO of Swissport International, said:
“This joint venture is a significant step in our successful strategy to expand our cargo business, while providing a strong platform to strengthen our ground-handling presence in Southeast Asia.”
Additionally, the partnership aims to expand UNEX’s services beyond cargo into ramp handling and passenger services.
Budiman Tedja, founder and CEO of UNEX Aviation Services, said:
“Swissport’s global network, industry expertise and proven track record will help us expand our service offering, strengthen our operational capabilities and support the continued growth of Indonesia’s aviation sector.”

Indonesia’s Growing Aviation Market
According to the International Trade Administration, Indonesia is the third-fastest-growing aviation market in the world, after China and India, based on aircraft purchase and trade value. In 2024, it recorded 712,676 international and domestic flights. This is a 2.3% increase from 2023 and a 31.7% increase from 2022.
Indonesia has more than 17,000 islands, making air transport an important part of connectivity and economic development. The joint venture expands Swissport’s presence in Southeast Asia and gives the company access to Indonesia’s growing aviation and cargo market.
