Dubai-based cargo airline SolitAir has added Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) to its growing European network, making Romania its second destination in Europe. This announcement follows the airline’s recent launch of services to Sofia, Bulgaria, as it continues expanding cargo connections between the Middle East and Europe.

Bucharest strengthens SolitAir’s European expansion

SolitAir said the new route will strengthen trade links by providing businesses with air cargo services through its hub at Dubai World Central (DWC).

According to the airline, Bucharest’s growing automotive, manufacturing, technology and industrial sectors make it an important addition to its European network.

The new Romanian service follows SolitAir’s first European Union route to Sofia, which launched after the airline received ACC3 certification from the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The carrier also secured a UK Third Country Operator Certificate from the UK CAA in July, allowing further international expansion.

Cargo carrier continues network and fleet growth

Since launching operations in October 2024, SolitAir has expanded to 56 routes across more than 34 countries, including a 17-destination network in Africa centred on its Nairobi hub.

The airline currently operates a fleet of seven Boeing 737-800 converted freighters, each capable of carrying up to 20 tonnes of cargo, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, dangerous goods and oversized freight.

SolitAir plans to expand its fleet to 20 aircraft as it continues developing its operations from Dubai World Central.
