Avianca is celebrating 15 years of operations at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Since launching flights to Orlando in July 2011, the airline has now expanded its network at the airport and now operates 32 weekly nonstop flights linking Orlando with Bogota and Medellin in Colombia as well as San Salvador in El Salvador.

Orlando network growth

Avianca said its Orlando operations have grown significantly in recent years. Between 2022 and 2025, the airline nearly doubled its annual operations, increasing from 990 flights carrying around 136,000 passengers in 2022 to 1900 flights serving more than 301,600 passengers in 2025.

As part of its summer 2026 schedule, the carrier also increased its Botoga- Orlando service from 14 to 21 weekly flights and made its Orlando-Medellin route from a seasonal service to a year round daily operation.

Ronaldo Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America said:

“This 15-year anniversary recognizes the loyal passengers, dedicated employees, airport partners, and Central Florida community members who have driven our success. As we look ahead, we remain committed to providing travellers with unmatched access to our extensive global network.”

Celebrating the partnership

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which operates (MCO) welcomed the milestone and highlighted the role the airline has played in strengthening links between Central Florida and Latin America.

Lance Lyttle, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, said Avianca’s continued investment demonstrates confidence in the region and its future growth.

Visit Orlando also recognised the anniversary, noting that Colombia remains one of the city’s leading international visitor markets and that the airline has helped support tourism.
