The Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG has appointed Lorenza Maggio as the new CEO of Brussels Airlines, a Lufthansa subsidiary. Alongside her role as CEO, she will serve as the Executive Board Representative to the European Commission. She will succeed Dorothea von Boxberg, who is leaving the company at her own request, effective August 31, 2026.

Who is the new CEO?
Lorenza Maggio, who has been working internationally for the Lufthansa Group in various divisions since 2001, has been highly praised by Dieter Vranckx, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding.
“Lorenza Maggio is a highly accomplished and internationally experienced airline executive. She knows the industry and our group from various leadership positions at different companies. With her proven expertise, she will lead Brussels Airlines as an integrated hub airline within the Lufthansa Group.”

Transition from Commercial Leadership to Group-Level Strategy
Maggio has been a member of the Board of Directors of ITA Airways since January 2025, serving as Chief Strategy and Integration Officer. In this position, she shaped the airline’s strategic development and oversaw its integration into the Lufthansa Group.
Her extensive background in the industry includes her time as Vice President Sales EMEA for Lufthansa Group Airlines, a role she took on in January 2024. She was responsible for all commercial and sales activities of the Lufthansa Group’s passenger airlines in Europe outside its home markets, the Middle East, and Africa. In this capacity, she also managed and developed global sales programs and tools, steered the group’s global sales communications, and led the sustainability strategy and projects for corporate customers. Previously, Maggio was responsible for brand and customer strategy at Eurowings and served as Managing Director of a subsidiary of the LSG Group.
The exact date for Maggio’s transition from Rome to Brussels will be determined shortly.
