Avianca has launched a new mileage donation campaign through its Lifemiles loyalty programme to support emergency relief efforts in Venezuela following the earthquakes that struck the country on June 24.

The initiative will help fund the transportation of medical personnel and rescue teams responding to the disaster, with the airline matching every mile donated by Lifemiles members during the campaign.

Doubling donated miles

The campaign will run from June 26 to July 10 and will be managed through the Lifemiles Mileage Bank, which collects donated miles from programme members for humanitarian initiatives.

For the duration of the campaign, Avianca and Lifemiles will match every donated mile, doubling the total contribution to help cover the transport of rescue workers and healthcare professionals travelling to affected areas.

There is no minimum donation requirement, and members can contribute their miles through the Lifemiles donation platform.

Part of Lifemiles’ humanitarian responses

The Venezuela campaign is the latest initiative to be delivered through the Lifemiles Mileage Bank, which allows loyalty programme members to donate miles for humanitarian causes. Other previous campaigns include supporting emergencies in Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Colombia as well as delivering WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) specialists and assisting environmental conservation projects.
