As a sweeping winter storm sets its sights on major travel corridors from Texas to the Northeast, Delta Air Lines is moving quickly to give passengers flexibility—allowing fee-free flight changes as ice, sleet, and freezing rain threaten to disrupt air travel over the coming days. Forecasts indicate potentially hazardous conditions across Texas, much of the Southeast—including Delta’s Atlanta hub—and into the Northeast, raising concerns about delays and cancellations at some of the nation’s busiest airports. Delta says safety remains its top priority as teams closely monitor weather developments and prepare for possible schedule adjustments.

Proactive Steps to Reduce Disruptions
To help customers stay ahead of the storm, Delta is offering flexibility for travelers with existing bookings in affected areas, allowing them to change their itineraries without incurring change fees. Customers can manage their travel directly through delta.com or the Fly Delta app.
In the event of a cancellation or a delay that results in a missed connection, Delta says it will automatically rebook customers on the next available flight.
Delta is encouraging customers to track their flight status frequently, noting that winter weather can change rapidly. Travelers can opt in to receive real-time alerts via mobile notifications or email, providing updates on delays, gate changes, or cancellations.
The airline also emphasized its commitment to transparency, saying customers will be notified as early as possible if schedules are adjusted.
