Ryanair to open a new base at Southend Airport

Ryanair to open a new base at Southend Airport.

London Southend Airport owner, Stobart Group, have today announced a deal with low cost airline Ryanair.

 

 

A five-year agreement with the option to be extended to ten years will see Ryanair open a new base at London Southend. Initially three aircraft will be based at London Southend from Summer 2019 with 13 routes to 8 different European countries. Furthermore 6 of these routes include new destinations for Ryanair.

The Destinations include,

  1. Alicante
  2. Barcelona Reus
  3. Bibao
  4. Brest
  5. Cluj
  6. Corfu
  7. Dublin
  8. Faro
  9. Kosice
  10. Malaga
  11. Milan Bergamo
  12. Palma de Mallorca
  13. Venice Marco Polo

A £300 million investment will operate  more than 55 weekly flights. In addition creating 750 jobs.

“We are pleased to add London Southend Airport to our UK base network.” said David O’Brien, Chief Commercial Officer. In response Warwick Brady Stobart Group CEO said “We are delighted to welcome Ryanair, Europe’s favorite airline, and its customers to London Southend Airport”

Furthermore this deal is set to see an increase by up to 5 million passengers by the year 2022.
