Colombian música popular singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez and five others have been killed in a private aircraft crash. The fatal accident occurred on Saturday, January 10, shortly after take-off from Paipa, Boyacá, Colombia.

All Six on Board Confirmed Dead

The incident occurred on Jan 10, 2026 at around 4:11 PM local time. Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority (Aerocivil) said the light aircraft, registered N325FA, crashed in the vicinity of the Juan José Rondón aerodrome, located between the municipalities of Paipa and Duitama, Boyacá. According to the FAA registry, the aircraft seems to be a Piper PA-31-325 Navajo owned by Tvpx Aircraft Solutions Inc. Trustee.

The plane, which had filed a flight plan for Medellín, was carrying six people: the pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers. Search and rescue teams confirmed no survivors. The other victims were identified as pilot Captain Fernando Torres, and passengers Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín, Jefferson Osorio, and Weisman Mora, Jiménez’s photographer.

Nation Mourns as Investigation Begins

Aerocivil’s accident investigation team has begun its probe into the cause.

In a statement, the authority expressed its condolences to the families of all victims. The government of Boyacá has declared an official mourning period.

In a heartfelt statement, Yeison Jiménez’s team expressed their “impossible to describe” pain. They honoured his “perseverance, discipline, and love for his people,” whose legacy would live on in his music. The statement also paid tribute to the other five victims and extended support to their families.

The 34-year-old singer was a major figure in Colombia’s música popular scene. He was the first of its artists to sell out Bogotá’s Movistar Arena for a solo show. He was travelling to a concert in Medellín at the time of the crash.
