Finnair will add services to Catania, Florence, Valencia and Kos to its summer schedule next year. Launching from 31 March 2026 and flying from the airline’s home base of Helsinki, the move is set to strengthen Finnair’s European network.

Summer Getaway

Southern Europe is traditionally popular with Nordic travellers, and the new routes are set to offer not only summer sun, but also the chance to visit several cultural attractions.

Flights to Catania, known as the “city under the volcano” due to its proximity to Mount Etna, are scheduled three times per week, and will provide tourists the opportunity to visit the world-famous monastery San Benedetto, as well as the Palazzo Biscari palace, and the Roman Amphitheatre.

Staying with Italy, the airline is set to fly to Florence twice weekly, where travellers can see Michelangelo’s world-famous ‘David’ statue.

Finnair passengers will also have the chance to travel to Valencia, Spain, with two weekly flights scheduled. There, tourists can visit the Plaza de la Reina and the Miguelete tower, amongst other attractions.

Moving further east across the Mediterranean, twice-weekly flights will run to the Greek island of Kos, a firm favourite for travellers looking to experience gorgeous beaches, with the destination boasting over 100 km of coastline.

Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer Christine Rovelli said:

“Italy, Spain, and Greece are particularly popular with our Finnish and Northern European customers during the summer months. The new destinations complement our Southern European network, offering both beach holidays and culture, and the travel period extends from spring to autumn.”

New Routes Set to Complement Existing Network

The new flights will add to the airline’s already strong network in Southern Europe, with existing destinations including Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Verona and Bologna in Italy, and  Madrid, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona and Palma in Spain. Other existing destinations in Finnair’s network include Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, and Chania, Heraklion, Rhodes or Santorini in Greece.

Finnair’s new destinations are scheduled as follows:

●  Helsinki to Florence – 2 April to 18 October

●  Helsinki to Catania – 31 March to 21 October

●  Helsinki to Valencia – 11 April to 24 October

●  Helsinki to Kos – 2 May to 24 October
