Starting from August 25 until August 29, members of SkyMiles, Delta’s rewards programme, and Delta staff, will be able to vote via the Fly Delta app to decide which one of three new European island destinations will be added to the American airline’s Summer 2026 schedule.

Voting Starts Now for SkyMiles Members

Delta has launched what it calls its first ever “Route Race”, which will have customers and team members decide which one of three destinations will be added to Delta’s schedule. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the airline is one of the USA’s largest and currently serves more than 300 destinations worldwide, with the airline operating its largest ever schedule this summer. It launched a route to Catania, Italy, the airline’s first non-stop transatlantic service to Sicily. The Route Race will give Delta customers and staff the chance to shape the airline’s schedule and add another Mediterranean island getaway to the list of destinations operated by Delta.

Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, had the following to say about the new initiative:

“SkyMiles Members and Delta people are at the center of everything Delta does. The Route Race is a celebration of their influence, giving our community a voice in where they want to fly next and inviting them to help shape Delta’s global network. The destinations where Delta flies are more than just dots on a map – they’re gateways to culture, connection and possibility, and this is a chance for our Members and employees to bring one of them closer.”

Have Your Say

SkyMiles members and Delta employees can vote now via the Fly Delta app, available to download on the App Store and Google Play Store. To participate, users must open the app and navigate to the Explore and Trip pages, confirm their SkyMiles credentials and submit their votes. The final results will be announced 30 days after voting closes. The three destinations that users can choose from are as follows:

  • Malta (Malta International Airport/MLA), which boasts culture and UNESCO sites such as its megalithic temples;
  • Ibiza, Spain (Ibiza Airport/IBZ), where DJs play at world-famous venues and the party never stops;
  • Sardinia, Italy (Olbia Costa Smerelda Airport/OLB), where visitors can soak up the sun and relax, sail the coast and enjoy a true Mediterranean diet.

Will you be voting on Delta’s newest island getaway destination? Let us know which destination you would pick in the comments below.
