Connecting Malta

Malta is a popular travel destination, especially with its sunny weather. Its capital city, Valletta, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island’s former capital, Mdina, has a history spanning more than 4,000 years. Thierry Antinori, chief commercial officer at Qatar Airways, commented that the airline is dedicated to expanding its global connectivity. Antinori welcomed global travellers to enjoy the vibrant nature of Malta and its landscape through Qatar Airways and promised a convenient travel experience for passengers wanting to visit the country.

Alan Borg, chief executive officer at Malta International Airport, also commented on the return of Qatar Airways, welcoming the airline and the contribution it adds to their efforts to expand connectivity, calling it a testament to their industry’s resilience. Borg said the airport is committed to facilitating the airline in increasing its operational growth in the region.

Carlo Micallef, chief executive officer of Malta Tourism Authority, also welcomed the airline’s resumption of direct service between Doha and Malta. Micallef considers the return a strong recognition of Malta’s tourism potential and that:

“The new schedule will strengthen Malta’s connectivity with a variety of attractive and lucrative tourism source markets, and the Malta Tourism Authority remains fully committed to working in partnership with the airline to maximise business opportunities for Malta whilst ensuring the route’s sustained long-term success.”
