Aviation has been recognised as the most attractive sector in Belgium to work in, with the appeal of a good work atmosphere, interesting job content, and the potential of future progression opportunities. Within the aviation sector, Brussels Airlines has emerged as the top employer.

Randstad’s Work Study

Leading Belgian human resources service provider, Randstad, carried out an extensive research study into the country’s labour market. Their results have revealed that the aviation industry is the most desirable sector to work in across Belgium. Respondents to the study claimed their enthusiasm to work in aviation was due to a positive work atmosphere, engaging job content, and promising career opportunities.

Brussels Airlines ranked as the fourth most attractive employer in Belgium, and first in the aviation sector. This indicates public perception of Brussels Airlines as an employer of choice, holding a strong reputation both as a leading airline and for investing in people.

Jan Ooms, Head of Human Resources at Brussels Airlines said:

“Brussels Airlines wants to grow and become the carrier of choice for our guests, offering a premium experience at every touchpoint. To deliver the best product, we need the best team — and that means being the best employer. We’ve made significant investments in our staff over the years and will continue to do so. We actively listen to our employees and work to improve every day. This recognition makes us truly proud.”

Randstad’s study is available to read in Dutch and French.

Brussels Airlines’ Developments

Post-pandemic, Brussels Airlines has successfully returned to profitability and used this growth to invest in their people, products, and passenger experience. This can be evidenced by Brussels Airlines’ accomplishments in 2024 – during which the airline concluded new reward agreements with all employee groups, opened a new crew lounge at Brussels Airport, and established a state-of-the-art training centre in Vilvoorde. Brussels Airlines has also worked to improve comfort and service across all travel classes with the introduction of new aircraft, lounge upgrades, enhanced amenities offered, and cabin redesigns.

In 2025, Brussels Airlines are continuing their path of progression with plans to further expand the number of employees and strengthen their networks around the world. With the expansion of their long-haul fleet, the airline will welcome three-hundred-and-sixty new colleagues. This increase in capacity will cover the airline’s connection to Africa.  These additions intend to match rising demand for air travel in Africa, with growing populations and economies at the forefront of global connectivity. This development is central to aims of making Brussels a European hub for flights to and from Africa.

Brussels Airlines has further aims to grow its short- and medium-haul fleet. This means that the airline is set to continue this hiring momentum, encouraging onward its reputation as a leading employer in the aviation industry.
