Korean Air is upgrading its airport lounges and introducing Premium Economy cabins as part of its new service enhancement strategy. This alteration follows the introduction of its new corporate identity ahead of the Asiana integration.

What and when?

The airline will be renovating its existing lounges at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. These lounges will begin opening in phases from August 2025. As well as that, new “Prestige Class Garden Lounges” will be built in the airport’s east and west wings. Korean Air predict that these upgrades will accommodate increased customer traffic following the airport expansion and relocation of Asiana Airlines into Terminal 2.

The existing Prestige Class Lounge, in the east wing, will double in size. The Miler Club Lounge will also experience an expansion, providing a more commodious environment for an improved customer experience. The First Class and Prestige Class lounges, in the west wing, will undergo refurbishment until April 2026. After all lounge upgrades are complete, Korean Air will operate a total of six lounges at Incheon. The overall lounge space would have increased by 2.5 times, doubling its seat capacity.

Furthermore, food and beverage services will be significantly improved with live kitchens offering an array of diverse cuisine. Baristas and bartenders will be on-site preparing cocktails, wines, or hot drinks. Also, bakeries and patisseries will serve croissants, pizzas, and treats. Lastly, the lounge will host a signature, authentic noodle bar.

Korean Air plans to renovate its lounges in America. Their lounges at Los Angeles (LAX) and New York JFK will undergo complete redesigns, inspired by the theme of the busy U.S. cities.

Premium Economy

Korean Air will also introduce Premium Economy seating in response to an increased market demand. The carrier will retrofit 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, replacing First Class cabins with Premium Economy cabins.

The first newly-fitted aircraft will enter service in the second half of 2025. This B777-300ER will contain a three-class configuration of Prestige, Premium Economy, and Economy. Modifications will continue throughout 2026, expanding Premium Economy availability across more routes.
