Avianca Cargo’s Achievement

The airline has been honoured with the award for the second consecutive year.

Speaking of the achievement, Senior Vice President of Avianca Cargo, Diogo Elias said:

Winning the ESG Award for the second consecutive year reflects our ongoing efforts to lead the air cargo industry toward a sustainable future.

The Aviation Achievement Awards is an event that celebrates organisations and projects that have demonstrated excellence in logistics, innovation, and teamwork.

Ways in which Avianca Cargo has improved sustainability include adopting biodegradable plastic pallet covers, using zero GWP refrigerants, implementing over 24 fuel-saving SOPs and reducing 2,480 tons of CO₂ emissions in 2024. The airline’s fleet of A330 freighters is known for its fuel efficiency, which contributes to the reduction in CO₂ emissions per Revenue Ton Kilometre (RTK).

Avianca Cargo’s wider achievements include its LEED® MRO certification, including a 30% solar energy contribution. The airline also partners with Deprisa and Fundación Hábitat Sur to remove plastic waste from the Amazon, transporting over 2 tons for recycling. Additionally, the airline actively supports initiatives in healthcare, education, and environmental conservation. In 2024 alone, they transported more than 125 tons of aid.
