However, passengers on this inaugural flight were warmly greeted upon arrival with traditional. Thai dancers, flower garlands, and gifts celebrating the airline’s return to one of Southeast Asia’s premier travel destinations.
British Airways initially stopped flying the Thailand route in 2020 but announced its return earlier this year.

Currently, the airline operates flights to Bangkok three times a week. The plan is to increase to five weekly flights in January and February 2025 and four weekly flights in March. Customers can pick up one of three classes on these flights: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class), with round-trip fares starting at £718.

British Airways and Bangkok Airways Partnership

The return of British Airways flights to Bangkok is supported by its expanded codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways offering seamless connections from Bangkok to five additional destinations across Southeast Asia.

Passengers can travel over the vibrant island of Koh Samui, the beaches of Phuket, or explore the north with Chiang Mai’s mountainous landscapes and historic temples. Additionally, those who aspire to visit Cambodia can connect to Phnom Penh and the resort town of Siem Reap.

Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways said:

“We know that Bangkok has been a highly anticipated route restart for our customers, so we are thrilled to see it firmly back on our global route map.”

Thailand welcomes British Airways back

Ms. Sadudee Sangnil, Director of UK, Ireland & South Africa at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), welcomed British Airways back to Thailand:

It is great to welcome British Airways back to Thailand, and just in time for the peak season. With so much to experience across Thailand, the addition of these flights means we can welcome more people, seeking winter sun, to experience Thailand’s warmth, beauty, and culture.

British Airways’ network is growing rapidly with recent announcements of new services to Kuala Lumpur starting April 1, 2025, along with seasonal routes to Tromsø, Norway, and Ivalo, Lapland, launching next month. Operating out of London Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City Airport, British Airways serves nearly 200 destinations globally, offering one of the UK’s most extensive flight networks.
