The EEA aviation museum in Oshkosh has revealed its tour called ‘Inside the Hangar’ allowing visitors to scan QR codes. This move constitutes a groundbreaking plan that aims to upgrade the museum experience. Hence,  customers have the opportunity to have in-depth, behind the scenes insights into specific aircraft exhibits.  More particularly, by simply scanning the codes with their smart devices, visitors can access detailed backgrounds, archival photographs not showcased in the museum, and other information not featured on conventional signage. In addition, the first QR code is located at the museum entrance, that describes the self-guided tour features and their advantages. In total, all the codes are diversely located in numerous areas of EAAs core aircrafts Mechanix Illustrated Baby Ace, Little Audrey, and Little Bonzo. The Huey helicopter display in the Eagle also shows this new interactive feature. Hangar Amelia Anderson, the EAA Aviation Museum collections curator similarly said:

“Museum visitors across the country are increasingly looking for interactive experiences, and the Synthesia software enables us to offer much more depth to our exhibits than we could ever fit on a sign. This system also gives us the flexibility to share additional and behind-the-scenes information as we discover it. As interest grows, we plan to expand this feature to more exhibits in the coming year.”

More about the initiative

The Synthesia software provides more advanced features enabling visitors to benefit from a tech -savvy  and captivating museum experience with the numerous visual aids without needing to download a particular app. As the ‘Inside the Hangar’ exhibition gains popularity more events will offer the audience similar services. The goal is to continually enhance the museum experience relying less on traditional tools in order to create more immersive and captivating tours.  With this exciting action the EEA aviation museum is about to gain popularity and become a pioneer in the museum sector offering advanced  audiovisual material to its visitors and catering for the growing demand for interactive museum experiences.
