During a difficult year for aviation industry airbus faces constant growth and achievements. More particularly,  Airbus delivered 77 aircraft in July, bringing its cumulative total for 2024 to 400. It also plans to add 59 more aircrafts. This impressive performance underscores the airbus capability to thrive and grow even as Boeing faces challenges throughout the year. In addition, the Japan Airlines, utilised more than half of the orders for the month leading to a total number of 20 A350s as well as 11 A321neos. However, the largest order of the year was held by the American Airlines with 85 A321neo aircraft that was part of a larger order that contained Boeing and Embraer aircraft. Outstanding orders also include Virgin Atlantic Airways’ seven A330-900s  and Saudia’s order of 51 A321neos.

 Challenges in 2024

However, during 2024 despite the unstoppable growth the  Airbus’ year has not been without difficulties. More particularly, at the beginning of 2024 Airbus announced a sharp decline in orders compared to the previous year mainly as a consequence of the space sector. The Airbus CEO reported that the company’s financial orders depicted changes in the space business. He also announced the following

“The half-year financial performance mainly reflects significant charges in our space business. We are addressing the root causes of these issues.”

Nevertheless, the airbus does not cease to be reliable during these challenges within the industry. Notably, in July Croatia Airlines was introduced to A220 in Canada and it will constitute the first aircraft that will be provided. This constitutes a strategic move to significantly help the airlines grow. The airbus managed to surpass the technical and note an outstanding development with the introduction and orders of various aircrafts by multiple airlines. Hence, the question that occurs is the following. Will the airbus become the example of operational excellence in the competitive aviation industry?
