Aurigny, the regional airline for Guernsey, has sold its only Embraer E195 jet to Azorra, a global aircraft leasing company. The sale marks a significant step in Aurigny’s fleet transformation efforts, aimed at enhancing the sustainability and resilience of air connectivity for the island.

The Embraer E195, which Aurigny has operated since 2014, has been a staple on routes between Guernsey, the UK, and Europe. Aurigny CEO Nico Bezuidenhout highlighted the aircraft’s role in serving the island community over the past decade:

“The Embraer E195 is a very good aircraft that has served Islanders and visitors well over the last decade. Fleet simplification is, however, a key ingredient to improving the sustainability and resilience of Guernsey’s air connectivity, and as such, the decision to exit the Embraer from Aurigny’s fleet,”

Who are Aurigny?

Aurigny, officially known as Aurigny Air Services, is the regional airline of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Established in 1968, Aurigny has grown to become a vital link between the island and key destinations in the UK and Europe, playing an essential role in supporting both local residents and the tourism industry. The airline operates a fleet of turboprop ATR and Dornier aircraft, which are known for their efficiency and reliability on short-haul routes, ensuring consistent and dependable service. As a wholly owned subsidiary of the States of Guernsey, Aurigny is committed to providing essential air services that are critical to the island’s connectivity, economy, and overall accessibility. Over the years, Aurigny has earned a reputation for its dedication to customer service and its efforts to maintain and improve air links that are crucial for the community it serves.

Aurigny will continue to operate its fleet of five turboprop ATR and Dornier aircraft, focusing on the core routes that support the island’s connectivity.

Who are Azorra

Azorra’s acquisition of the E195 aligns with the company’s strategy to meet the capacity needs of its existing Embraer customer base. Michael Davis, Azorra’s Chief Marketing Officer, noted the continued high demand for the E195:

“The E195 continues to be in high demand and this opportunity to assist Aurigny is complementary to supporting the capacity needs of our existing Embraer customer base,”

Azorra, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and with an office in Dublin, Ireland, is known for its relationship-driven approach to aircraft leasing. The company provides leasing, financing, fleet transition, and asset management solutions to aircraft investors, financiers, and airline operators worldwide. Azorra’s diverse team, comprising seasoned veterans and young professionals, manages a fleet of over 100 aircraft leased to more than 38 operators in 32 countries, with commitments for over 160 additional aircraft, including new Airbus A220-100/300 and Embraer E190/195-E2 models.
