Since the dispute between Ukraine and Russia reached its peak, aviation has been affected a lot. Russian Airlines have been banned from the EU and multiple other airspaces. The airspace above Ukraine is closed, whereas Russia has also closed its airspace for flights from various counties, which is inconvenient for many airlines.

Brazilian Embraer Jets on Standby for Evacuation

However, officials are working to evacuate their citizens from Ukraine. The Brazilian Air Force has also prepared Embraer jets for Ukraine evacuation. If Brazilians are to be evacuated, two Embraer KC-390 Millennium aircraft are on standby. The aircraft are medium-size, twin-engine, jet-powered military transport aircraft produced by the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer.

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, promised that no efforts would be spared to help Brazilians stuck in Ukraine. In a statement, a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) spokesperson said:

“Under the guidance of the Ministry of Defense and coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), we put two KC-390 Millennium aircraft on standby for possible transport of Brazilians evacuated from Ukraine.”

Military transport aircraft can be very useful in emergencies like this. These transport planes were deployed in Haiti to deliver emergency aid and donations to the victims of the Beirut explosion. Around 80 military people can be transported in the KC-390 Millennium. But, looking back at the C-17 from Afghanistan, which surpassed its limits by carrying about 640 people, the KC-390 Millennium might also carry more evacuees than its official limit.

Brazilian Footballers Escaped Ukraine

Many Brazilian football players have also escaped the country. Three Brazilian players, Gabriel Busanello, Bill, and Felipe Pires, who are players from Ukrainian Premier Liga club SK Dnipro-1, have escaped Ukraine and have arrived safely in Romania. Many other Brazilian players have also posted videos of them escaping along with their families on the train. Most of them play for Shakhtar Donetsk.
