2020 was the year of the staycation in the UK, with many people opting to stay local, rather than risking the strict quarantine restrictions upon arrival.
As international travel in the UK remains banned until May the 17th 2021, with uncertainty that travellers will be able to fly fully unrestricted, it’s likely that flyers will be looking to stay local during the summer months. Here are some of our favourite spots, which are only a short flight away:
Cornwall
Fly down to Newquay this summer and enjoy an array of beaches and beautiful tourist hotspots. St. Ives is only a short drive away, and if you don’t fancy travelling too far from the airport, Newquay itself is an incredible place to reside in. It’s full of surfing and water sports, bars and restaurants, making it the perfect spot for those looking for a little adventure this summer, without leaving the UK.
Home to the cream teas and Cornish pasties, Cornwall has always been a classic choice for holidaymakers avoiding the expensive costs abroad in the summer holidays. Also, it may be the only choice for those looking to spend their June on a beach.
Lake District
The Lake District is the largest national park in England. It’s close to Manchester, but travellers can access the beautiful area by flying to Carlisle Lake District Airport from London Southend. The Lake District features some of the most idyllic views in the whole of the UK and travellers can spend time getting to know the poets and writers that have resided there over the years, making it one of the perfect staycation spots in the UK for travellers.
New Forest
Home to many different fun activities and attractions, the New Forest may be a popular option for those looking for a little more relaxation this summer. It features country walks, royal visits and nature spots. There are lots of cool places to stay and it’s easy to get to via Southampton Airport.
