Emirates is set to operate a special flight carrying only vaccinated crew and passengers to celebrate the United Arab Emirate’s (UAE’s) progress in its vaccination program.

A Monumental Flight

Flight EK2021 will operate on April 10 and depart from Dubai International Airport, flying over various UAE areas. So far, over eight million vaccines have been administered in the country, protecting over half of the UAE’s population.

Tickets for the flight will be available to UAE citizens and residents who have completed the two weeks after their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Travelers will experience Emirates’ newest A380 cabins and the latest on-ground technologies that enable a speedy journey through the airport.

The proceeds from the flight will be donated to the Emirates Airline Foundation, which supports projects worldwide aimed at improving the quality of life for disadvantaged children.

Emirates’ Covid Success

To date, over 35,000 Emirates employees have received their COVID-19 vaccine from one of the company’s vaccination centers, with over 85% of the airline’s pilots and cabin crew already receiving two doses of the vaccine.

Since the start of the pandemic, Emirates has ramped up its safety procedures, becoming one of the first airlines to trial the International Air Transport Association’s Covid travel app and advancing their check-in technology to become touchless. Last month, the airline even introduced a service allowing passengers to pay to sit next to an empty seat.

They said in a statement: “Emirates continues to lead the industry with innovative products and services that address traveler needs during a dynamic time.”

EK2021 highlights a massive development in the UAE’s vaccination rollout and gives hope for the future of air travel. Would you pay for a ticket on the flight if you could?! Let us know below.
