Cathay Pacific Airways has announced that it would relaunch flight to London Heathrow on Tuesday, January 12. However, it will be a one-way flight service from Hong Kong to London.

The airline said that it would operate flights to London on January 12, followed by six more flights on January 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 21st and 24th. However, a flight to Manchester on January 15 was cancelled, and the return flight from the UK to Hong Kong will remain suspended until January 25th.

About the Relaunch

Cathay Pacific suspended flights to the UK on December 21st, in a move to keep out a new strain of the coronavirus that was reported in the UK. Hong Kong has so far recorded 15 cases of this new strain.

Cathay’s flight CX251 will depart from Hong Kong at 23:55 and arrive at Heathrow Terminal 2 at 05:00 the following day. An Airbus A350-1000 will operate the flights to London.

Commenting on this, Kinto Chan, Cathay Pacific Regional General Manager Europe said:

“We are cognizant of the paramount importance that critical air link from Asia to the UK be maintained, especially under these trying times so that essential supplies can be transported and UK residents have a way to return home. As such, we will resume limited services from Hong Kong to London from 12 January.”
