Yesterday two United Airlines planes were damaged after one aircraft clipped the wingtip of another United aircraft. Flight 645 was pushing back from the gate (C30) when it clipped the wingtip of United 2746 parked at gate C28. It is reported that both aircraft have sustained left wing damage.

Luckily no injuries were reported and airport officials said the incident did not affect travel for other flights at the airport. They added that United ensured the flight was resumed with another aircraft being provided within an hour.

A statement by United Airlines said: “Prior to its departure for Portland, Oregon, United flight 645’s wingtip came into contact with the wingtip of another aircraft parked at a nearby gate. There were no customers on board the parked aircraft at the time of the incident and no reported injuries on either aircraft. We are assisting our customers and expect to operate the flight to Portland with a different aircraft shortly.

The Federal Aviation Administration have said they shall continue to investiagte the incident.
