German carrier Discover Airlines has announced that it will begin flying on a new route between its operating base at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. The services will begin Dec. 16, 2027, and are scheduled to continue until mid-April 2028. This will be the first Trans-Atlantic route to fly to or from Belize, in Central America.

Why Will Discover Airlines Fly to Belize?
The flight dates outlined for the FRA to BZE route coincide with Belize’s dry season, when levels of tourism to the country have traditionally been highest.
Discover, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, will offer two services a week between mid-December 2027 and mid-April 2028, with tickets going on sale Dec. 21, 2026.
This is one of a series of new routes Discover has announced it will begin using in 2027.
The airline is also set to takeover services between FRA and Seattle–Tacoma International (SEA) and Edmonton International (YEG) airports from its partner airline, Lufthansa German Airlines.
Discover will also takeover Lufthansa’s route between SEA and Discover’s other base at Munich Airport (MUC).

Why is This Important for Belize?
The new route, along with the dates it will be operated, was agreed by representatives of the Lufthansa Group, and Belize’s tourism ministry.
Anthony Mahler, Belize’s Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports, and Diaspora Relations, said that the new route would create opportunities for the country to grow arrivals from across Europe.
He also said that improving Belize’s air connectivity would make it easier for tourists to experience the country’s natural and cultural attractions.
BZE is Belize’s only international airport, and currently offers flights to six different foreign countries.
These include flights to the U.S. and Canada through foreign airlines such as American Airlines and WestJet. As well as destinations in: Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama, by Belize’s only international airline, Tropic Air.
