The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) carrier Flydubai announced the resumption of daily flights to Syria’s Aleppo International Airport (ALP) following a 14-year stoppage. The route’s first flight will depart from Dubai International Airport (DXB) on July 20 and will be the carrier’s second route to Syria, following its service to Damascus International Airport (DAM).

Return to Aleppo
The direct route to ALP is set to take off from DXB’s Terminal 3, featuring both economy and business class services. It aims to serve the Syrian diaspora in the UAE, as well as business travellers and cargo transport.
Return tickets on the route from DXB start at 1,800 United Arab Emirates Dirhams ($490.13) for Economy Class Lite and AED 8,000 ($2,178.35) for Business Class.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, said:
“We are pleased to resume our operations to Aleppo after nearly 14 years of halted operations. The introduction of our daily service to Aleppo marks an important milestone in our network expansion strategy. Our primary mandate has always been to support Dubai’s aviation hub by creating direct air links to previously underserved markets. By providing reliable, daily operations to Aleppo, we are not only catering to a strong existing demand for direct travel, but we are also fostering closer economic, cultural and familial ties between the UAE and Syria.”

Expansion plans
Flydubai’s routes to Syria are part of a wider network expansion strategy, with the UAE carrier set to be the first to operate a daily service between Dubai and Damascus, starting on June 1, 2025.
Other new destinations introduced as part of the strategy include a nonstop route to Libya’s Benghazi, double-daily flights to Thailand’s Bangkok, as well as a new route to Nepal’s Pokhara set to launch on Sept. 23.
Flydubai is owned by the UAE government and operates a fleet of 97 Boeing 737 aircraft, including 68 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, 26 Boeing 737-800s and three Boeing 737 MAX 9s.
