On 11 June 2025, Finland’s flagship carrier Finnair announced a relaunched route to Toronto after a decade. This announcement follows other collaborations and new flights to Canada from other European airlines, boosting trans-Atlantic travel, especially for European tourists travelling to Canada next summer.

A Relaunched Route After A Decade

Finnair’s route to Toronto, last served in 2015, is brought back into service this summer as the demand for travel to Canada rises.

This route, starting from 4 May 2026, will depart from Helsinki every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday afternoon, then return from Toronto in the evening on the same day.

Anssi Partanen, Finnair Market Director UK & Ireland, mentioned that this flight serves the increasing demand for flights to Canada from European travellers:

“Canada is fast becoming one of the most popular long-haul destinations for European travellers, so we are confident that this route will prove a hit with both business and leisure travellers heading across the Atlantic.”

This also encapsulates why other European and Canadian airlines are launching more connections and joint programmes that offer flights to Canada recently. For example, Air Canada’s new route from Toronto to Prague connects two key tourist cities across the ocean and brings more opportunities for summer vacations.

More about Finnair

As Finland’s flagship carrier, the airline connects the Nordic countries to a variety of destinations across the globe, with strong regional development in Asia and Europe. As part of the Oneworld Alliance, the airline, utilising its fleet of around 70 aircraft, mainly Airbus A350, provides fine services with state-of-the-art culinary options onboard.

When the aircraft touches base at Helsinki airport, do not miss the ambient light show onboard that recreates the wonders of the aurora lights!
