Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is introducing a new route from Stockholm Arlanda to Keflavik in 2025. The new route will increase the variety of flights between Sweden and Iceland, adding to their existing year-round connections from Copenhagen and Oslo. The new routes are part of SAS expansion, enhancing connectivity and re-establishing Stockholm Arlanda as a gateway for European and intercontinental travel.

New flight details
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) plans to launch flights from Stockholm Arlanda to Keflavik starting in summer 2024, providing a new and convenient route to Iceland’s rapidly expanding tourism industry. Flights will begin operation from June 22, 2025, to Aug. 11, 2025, with bi-weekly flights departing from Stockholm Arlanda. The flights will operate overnight, making them convenient for weekend trips in the summer. They will depart from Arlanda on Thursdays and Sundays at 23:00, and depart from Keflavik on Mondays and Fridays at 01:00.
The new expansion aims to meet the increasing demand for travel to Iceland, with a majority of Iceland tourism coming through Keflavik Airport, which is Iceland’s primary international gateway.

Visiting Iceland in the summer
Iceland is a beautiful country with a variety of natural landscapes, such as glaciers, mountains, and fjords. Although a perfect destination all year long, the summer highlight of Iceland is the midnight sun. The midnight sun provides 24-hour daylight, or endless daylight, which gives tourists the ability to maximise their stay and have time for even more activities. Summertime activities in Iceland include beautiful hikes to waterfalls, exploring glaciers, and volcanic areas.
Iceland has much more variety on offer for travellers, including the vibrant culture of Reykjavik. There are unique summer festivals all throughout the summer, including music festivals, arts and culture festivals, and town festivals that allow travellers to experience Icelandic traditional culture.
Henrik Winell, Vice President Network at SAS, has said
We are pleased that our travellers will be able to take full advantage of the extended daylight hours, allowing them to experience everything Iceland has to offer—whether for business or leisure. Additionally, our flight schedule lets passengers sleep while on the move from Iceland, with the added benefit of saving on hotel costs.
