Iberia Group Focusing on Latin America Region

The increase of seat availability for Latin American destinations by 16% contributed heavily to Iberia Group’s (Iberia, Iberia Express, and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum) noteworthy 2024 passenger record.

In 2023, the seat capacity for flights between Europe and Latin America was nearly 4.6 million seats. However, in 2024, the seat capacity between Iberia flights in these regions increased by 700,000, offering 5.3 million seats throughout the year. The data indicates a growth rate of 16.4% from 2023 and 20% from the period prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Between Europe and 18 Latin American destinations, Iberia operated a total of 320 weekly flights. This is a significant increase compared to 280 weekly flights in 2023.

Other Factors Contributed to Iberia Group’s 2024 Success

This success is linked to more people wanting to travel and the effectiveness of new routes to Latin America. Iberia Group additionally contributed to this rise in demand by adding new destinations.

Apart from the growth from international markets, Iberia Express found success on its Balearic and Canary Island routes.

Iberia Express contributed to the passenger record by carrying almost 8 million travelers. With an arrival punctuality rate of 84.69%, Iberia Express was the most effective low-cost airline in 2024. It also holds the title of the most punctual airline in Europe. Iberia Airlines ranks second in Europe for punctuality, with 81.58% of its flights reaching their destinations on time.

Figures show that Iberia Express played a crucial role in achieving this record.

Lastly, Iberia Regional Air Nostrum improved connectivity on both domestic and European routes. Air Nostrum carried 4,367,215 passengers in 2024.
