Avelo Airlines has begun its North Carolina expansion. This expansion will increase the region’s connectivity, offering travellers new affordable travel options. They have launched five new routes from two new bases at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport and Wilmington International Airport. They have also announced the launch of 10 new routes and new international destinations.
North Carolina Expansion
The base in Charlotte will begin operations on March 6, 2025. The airline will position one Boeing Next-Generation 737 and will add a second 737 in April 2025.
The Avelo base in Wilmington will open on April 3, 2025. The airline will position one Boeing Next-Generation 737 at ILM. Later in 2025, the airline will add a second 737.
With the announcement of the new bases, the airline predicts it will create up to 100 new jobs. These positions will encompass both Avelo crew members and those affiliated with Avelo business partners operating in the USA and ILM. These positions will include airport customer service, flight attendants, pilots, aircraft technical operations and maintenance, and supervisors.
Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said:
“Establishing bases in Charlotte and Wilmington, as well as our international expansion at our RDU base, enables us to bring even more affordable, convenient, and industry-leading reliability to more destinations. This means even more choice for travellers from across North Carolina while making it even easier for more people to visit the state from elsewhere across the East Coast and abroad”
New Routes
Avelo also announced it will start five new routes from Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and the USA, as well as its first two international routes at the Research Triangle’s Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
We plan to launch the new routes in 2025. Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft will operate these routes. The airline will have 27 nonstop routes from North Carolina, expanding the state’s connectivity significantly.
Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy commented on the expansions, suggesting there are more to come. He stated that
“Our North Carolina customers have embraced Avelo since our arrival two years ago. These 27 nonstop destinations are just the beginning.”
Travelers will now have increased affordable travel options, starting with one-way tickets at $44.
