Our Code of Ethics

We’re proud of our status as a leading independent source of aviation news, and have been a trusted source for over ten year’s. We pride ourselves on the highest quality journalism possible, and enforce a rigorous Code of Ethics on all of our Reporters and Columnists.

Travel Radar strictly upholds the following Code of Ethics:

  • Originality: We adhere to strict legal and ethical standards with the publishing of all content. This includes respecting copyright laws and intellectual property of others, and uphold strong journalistic ethics. We always cite our sources appropriately, and have a zero tolerance approach to plagiarism and AI generated content.
  • Reliability: We prioritise authenticity and reliability over clicks. All of our content is meticulously researched and cross-referenced prior to publishing, and all content undergoes a strict review process including through our team of journalists, researchers, editors and subject matter experts from across the aviation industry.
  • Independence: Our news is independent, and all thoughts (where expressed) those of our journalists. We do not trade stories for favors, or money, and reviews cannot be bought or sold.
  • Gifts and Gifts in Kind: We do not accept material gifts or gifts in kind in return for the publishing of any statement, story or viewpoint. Where access, trips or flights are provided by an organisation for the purpose of review/coverage, this is clearly mentioned inline and will not affect the outcome of our review.
  • Recency: We have strict controls in place to ensure the recency and relevancy of content published. We publicly list the publish date and update dates of all content so that our readers are aware of the recency of content being consumed. Older pieces, especially evergreen content, are regularly reviewed for recency and appropriate updates made where deemed necessary.
  • Conflicts of Interest: All of our journalists and columnists are required to inform us immediately of any potential Conflict of Interest when producing content. Members of the team engaged in employment or partnership with a brand (including airline, airport or manufacturers) are barred from writing or editing content that may be a conflict of interest. We have a zero-tolerance for dissemination of information gained from primary or secondary employment or affiliation with a third-party.
  • Image Copyright and Credits: We appropriately credit the original photographer/copyright holder of all images used on our site, and operate a strict copyright adherence policy. We source majority of images through licensing partners, but occasionally source from independent photographers. Where a photographer wishes to revoke such usage, they can submit a Takedown Notice via our Privacy & Legal page.
  • Embargoes: We strictly respect any embargo placed upon us, and will only publish stories at a mutually agreed time with the distributor/agency providing us such news. Content under embargo is offered additional internal protections with a named journalist and editor only, to prevent accidental leakage publicly.
  • Subject Matter Experts: Travel Radar works with a number of staff including journalists, columnists, interns, editors and subject matter experts. All content undergoes a rigorous internal verification and review process prior to being publicly published. Where a topic is deemed technical, a Subject Matter Expert will review such content to ensure factuality and accuracy in facts. All Subject Matter Experts are expertly vetted and references sought prior to employment, and include pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, crew, and other professional fields such as meteorologists.
  • Churnalism: This practice refers to taking pre-packaged press releases and stories from third party sources with a lack of original reporting and insight. Travel Radar frowns upon churnalism, and encourages original reporting in all stories published. We are a source of originality and independence, driven by industry experts and the highest possible quality, and churnalism does not support this. We occasionally publish news sourced from press/wire releases sent to us, though a majority of our work is original journalism with own research made.
  • Reporting: Readers can report any piece of content directly to our Editors via the Contact Us page of our website. We encourage corrections, omissions and errors be pointed out to our Editorial Team at the earliest possible opportunity, should anything slip through our rigorous review process – though we hope this is indeed very rare!

Travel Radar regularly reviews these Code of Ethics, and reserves the right to amend this page from time to time as it deems appropriate. If this page and it’s content is important to you, please check back regularly.
