Singapore Airlines announced on November 1 a $1.1 billion cabin retrofit program for long-haul flights. This revamp will include a new first-class cabin, premium economy cabins and new business-class concepts.

The new plans

Singapore Airlines main addition to its Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft includes a four-seat first class cabin. This will be available for their longest flights, such as the one from Singapore to New York. This addition aims to attract high-spending customers who prefer comfortable travel on flights lasting more than 17 hours. Expect an unparalleled in-flight experience with the new first-class cabins.

The airline is also planning to revamp its business class, but it has not yet released details. According to video plans released by Singapore Airlines, there appear to be new sliding doors. The doors will add a new level of comfort and privacy to the passenger.

CEO Goh Choon Phong comments:

The new First Class and Business Class seat designs will incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury, and modernity, allowing our customers to relax or work effortlessly on board.

There are plans for new cabins for 34 long-haul Airbus A350s; they will retain the same number of seats for business and premium economy, but they will include 5 more standard economy seats, up from the current 187.

When will it launch?

SIA Engineering Company in Singapore will be in charge of the new retrofit. They plan to release the improved Airbus A350-900 long-haul jet in the second quarter of 2026. The first Airbus A350-900ULR will likely enter service in the beginning of 2027.

The program should be competed entirely by 2030
