The United States has registered the most number of COVID-19 cases in the world. In turn, Air Canada has announced, yesterday, the suspension of all flight operations to the U.S. effective 26th April; hoping to restrict the further spread of the virus.

The official press release states:

Air Canada plans to resume service to the U.S. May 22, subject to any further government restrictions beyond that date…

The last scheduled commercial flight from the U.S. to Canada will be on April 26.

While it is unclear whether it will resume operations on May 22, the two respective governments will mutually plan out the final call. Meanwhile, Air Canada was busy operating special flights in the U.S. and other locations to rescue stranded Canadians.

Following the initial announcement of U.S.-Canada travel restrictions on March 21, Air Canada maintained limited service to 11 U.S. destinations from its three Canadian hubs, primarily to facilitate the repatriation of Canadians

The effects of COVID-19 has been felt heavily by the global aviation market, with no immediate recovery in sight.

What do you think will be the fate of airline operators?
