U.S regional airline aha! launched its new service from Reno, Nevada to California. And to celebrate the very first flight, aha! is offering one free ticket each to the first 100 customers on the flight.

Details behind the new route

Aha! (stylised as aha!) is the brand used by regional carrier ExpressJet Airlines, based in Georgia, U.S. The carrier launched on 24 October 2021 and has recently launched a new service from Reno-Tahoe International Airport based in Reno, Nevada to Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport based in California.

The carrier, since its inception, has focused exclusively on connecting regional and secondary airports in the western U.S to the Reno area. The carrier seeks to restore routes that have been lost in recent years through airline mergers or a lack of financial incentive to give locals a quicker form of transport to certain cities.

Aha! has a total of 5 aircraft in its fleet.

The new service will run on a twice-a-week schedule by an Embraer ERJ-145 service. The flight to Charles M. Schulz takes just under an hour (57 minutes) and will depart every Thursday and Sunday.

The first flight took off yesterday and departed from Reno-Tahoe International Airport at 3:51 pm local time and landed at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport at 4:26 pm local time – 11 minutes early.

Head of ExpressJet’s aha! business unit, Tim Sieber, commented on the new route. He shared that locals gave the new route a warm welcome:

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide passengers with an easy nonstop flight between Reno-Tahoe and Santa Rosa, two destinations that offer a blend of urban adventures and outdoor recreation.”

This latest service marks the ninth destination for aha! with two more routes to commence from this August.

Aha! Free tickets!

The free 100 tickets need to be booked by 11:59 pm on 17 July for travel until 31 October. While the tickets themselves are free, customers do need to pay for all relevant taxes and service fees such as checked baggage.

Talking of baggage, aha has introduced a “wine flies free” programme that will run until 30 November. The package targets those looking to fly to Santa Rosa’s wine country for a day trip over the summer as the carrier will accept one dedicated wine bottle case as a free checked bag.
