British Airways has announced it will be flying direct from London Heathrow to Lahore in Pakistan from October 12.  The service will operate four times a week and tickets are already on sale.  The return fare, if booked on the British Airways website, varies from $657 in World Traveller to $1806 for Club World.  The airline is confident this will prove to be a popular route and strengthen links with Pakistan.

Commenting on this development, UK High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr Christian Turner said, “The first-ever British Airways flights to Lahore is a sign of confidence in Pakistan, and the deepening ties between our two countries.  I hope it will open up even more opportunities for business links, people-to-people ties and tourism.”

British Airways has already relaunched its service to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.  Lahore, known as the ‘City of Gardens, is famous for its wealth of cultural attractions.  It will open up another area of Pakistan to travellers from the UK.

The airline is confident the new route will also be popular with the British Pakistani community as it will make it easier to visit family and friends in Pakistan.  Flights will depart from Terminal 5 at London Heathrow.  The Boeing 787-8 will operate this service and fly direct to Lahore’s international airport.  This service is timed to connect seamlessly with flights to and from America and Canada.

Moran Birger, Head of Sales for The Middle East and Asia Pacific, said that that the relaunch of the service between Islamabad and London earlier this year and the new route to and from Lahore reflects BA’s continued investment in Pakistan.  He concluded, “we look forward to welcoming our customers on board”.

British Airways and COVID-19 Safeguards on Flights to Pakistan

Before they board this new flight British Airways will send all passengers some pre-flight information.  This information will advise passengers about the procedure at the airport and any new changes in place.  It will also describe the procedures to expect onboard their flight and how to prepare for their journey.  This information includes links to sources where they can find out about any restrictions in place at their destination.

A useful source of COVID-19 restrictions for all travellers is the Timatic Database created by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).  This online interactive map records up to date Covid-19 entry regulations for international travel to every country in the world.
