Air Transat announces 69 direct routes for summer

By Josh McMinn 5 Min Read

The Canadian leisure airline Air Transat has announced its summer schedule this week. The carrier will be reintroducing the vast majority of its pre-pandemic destinations and has even added some new routes to its portfolio.

Return to pre-pandemic levels

The new roster of routes will begin in April and include flights to 25 European destinations, including the six currently served by the airline. At the height of the summer season, the airline will be operating more than 250 routes a week on 69 direct routes. The airline says that it has seen a surge in demand following the pandemic, allowing them to increase its capacity again.

“The numbers tell us clearly that with the gradual lifting of travel restrictions worldwide, people are more ready than ever to plan their next trip, whether to Europe, the U.S., Canada or to South destinations,”

said Joseph Adamo, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer.

Expanded Europe service

Beginning in April, Air Transat will resume its direct flights from Montreal to 16 European destinations. These include non-stop flights to Athens, Basel-Mulhouse, Barcelona, Brussels, London, Madrid Porto, Rome and Venice, and the French provinces of BordeauxLyonMarseilleNantesNice and Toulouse. From Toronto, passengers will be able to fly to 15 European cities, 10 of which are brand new destinations. Additionally, Air Transat will now be flying to Faro all year round.

New US connections

Air Transat will land in California for the first time in its history. Montreal will now have flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and, due to Florida’s “unfaltering popularity”, year-round flights to Miami, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale. Passengers boarding in Quebec and Toronto will also be able to take advantage of increased connections to Florida.
