A severed snake head was found in an in-flight meal aboard a SunExpress flight last week. The flight attendant was midway through the dish when they noticed something that shouldn’t be there.

A SunExpress spokesperson described the incident as “absolutely unacceptable”. They told the Turkish press that the airline had paused its contract with food supplier, Sancak whilst the circumstances are investigated further.

Sancak emphatically denies responsibility for the snakehead, claiming it could never have originated from their food packing facilities.  They issued a statement saying: “We think this issue is not about us, and our legal department is looking into this matter. We don’t think it is from us, but we are mentioned, and we are very sorry. ”

A spokesperson for the inflight services provider told the press: “We did not use any of the foreign objects that were supposedly in the food when cooking (due to the technical and thermal conditions used in the in-flight catering facilities).”
