Qatar Airways CEO Highlights the airlines Strategic Growth at Doha Forum 2024

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, took centre stage at the 22nd Doha Forum. Held on the 8th of December, attracting over 4,600 participants from more than 140 countries and 350 speakers. This forum is a vital platform for policymakers, thought leaders, innovators, and experts globally to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions to address the world’s most pressing challenges.  

He shared the airline’s vision for sustainable growth and innovation. Held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The 22nd Doha Forum

Speaking with the media, Engr. Al-Meer highlighted the airline’s achievements and strategic priorities.

Our increasingly connected world has introduced unique challenges but has also unearthed new opportunities for cross-cultural understanding,” he stated. Emphasising the airline’s resilience, he noted Qatar Airways’ ability to adapt through partnerships in emerging markets across Africa, the Americas, and India. These alliances, along with the airline’s agility, have been critical to maintaining high demand during both peak and off-peak travel seasons.

Qatar Airways also celebrated being named the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax for the eighth time in 2024, reinforcing its global reputation.

Qatar Airways 2.0 and Global Connectivity 

During the forum, Engr. Al-Meer introduced Qatar Airways 2.0, discussed an initiative designed to prioritise employee well-being and retention.

Owing to our new era of Qatar Airways 2.0, dedication to our workforce, and growing investments and partnerships, our airline serves as the optimal case study for thriving businesses in rapidly evolving landscapes.

The airline’s technological advancements were also in the spotlight, including its status as the first global airline to implement Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet. In addition, Qatar Airways’ commitment to expanding global connectivity was evident in its strategic acquisitions, such as a 25% stake in Southern Africa’s Airlink and its intent to acquire a similar stake in Virgin Australia which is pending regulatory approval. 

With a record $1.7 billion profit in the last financial year, Qatar Airways continues to lead the aviation industry by balancing innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships. Engr. Al-Meer’s insights at the Doha Forum demonstrated the airline’s role as a forward-thinking leader and their plan to navigate the aviation world.
