Jetstar Celebrates 1 Year Of Busselton-Margaret River Flights

Jetstar celebrated the one-year anniversary of the country’s first direct commercial service between Melbourne and Busselton-Margaret River on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tullysaid the Margaret River region’s reputation for premium wine, stunning coastlines, and unique experiences had fuelled demand. She added,

“We’re incredibly excited to celebrate this important milestone for our direct service between Melbourne and Busselton Margaret River, which has carried more than 50,000 customers in its first year.”

Since it was initially launched, the route has been used by more than 50,000 individuals. To take advantage of the service and explore Australia’s preferred surf and wine area, many of them travelled from all around Australia and New Zealand.

City of Busselton Mayor, Grant Henley, said the direct service from Melbourne has made the region more accessible. He said,

“As a regional capital, we are cementing ourselves as a destination of choice and we need to have options for people to fly in and out of the South West region.”

The Surf-To-City Flights

Locals in the South West of Oceania have also benefited greatly from the surf-to-city flights, saving them at least two and a half hours of driving to Perth to fly to the east coast.

With passengers staying an average of five to seven days in the South West, the three-weekly Airbus A320 service has helped to further promote and grow tourism in the area.

Speaking on travel in the Oceania region, Stephanie Tully added,

“The launch of this service was highly anticipated after two years of COVID border restrictions and it’s been great to see locals and tourists from around Australia and New Zealand embracing our great value low fares.”

In response to the rising demand for travel during the Easter school vacations, three extra services have been introduced.

For travel in May and June, Jetstar currently offers one-way fares starting at $198 for specific dates for a limited time. encourages customers to plan ahead and book early.
