This week, easyJet announced an exciting opportunity for passengers that will be offered this winter. In partnership with Aerobility, a charity that provides those with disabilities the chance to fly aeroplanes, the airline will be hosting a unique flight that offers passengers the chance to experience the Northern Lights.
All of the Northern Lights: First easyJet Charity Flight with Aerobility After Pandemic
At 30,000 feet in the air, the ‘Aurora flight’ (appropriately named after the Aurora Borealis) is a special flight that takes passengers closer to one of the Earth’s most scenic phenomenons. This isn’t the first easyJet charity flight offered in partnership with Aerobility – hundreds of people have experienced this special voyage over the past 8 years, including a couple from Oxfordshire who got engaged onboard in 2020.
The flight will take place on February 18th next year, departing from Gatwick. Passengers will be able to enjoy a two-course meal at Gatwick Sofitel Hotel as well as presentations before boarding the plane. There will then be inflight commentary provided by special guests such as Pete Lawrence, as well as experts from the British Antarctic Survey, all whilst customers enjoy refreshments and entertainment onboard.
Chris Foster, an easyJet pilot for the Aurora flight, expressed enthusiasm about the charity flight in a recent statement:
“We are incredibly proud to be able to offer this special Northern Lights flight once again and it is an honour to support Aerobility and the wonderful work they do. I would encourage anyone to book what is sure to be a fantastic flight that not only offers a unique experience but also contributes to a very worthwhile cause.”
In Partnership with Aerobility: All About the Charity
Aerobility is a UK-based charity that believes that the wonders of flight should be experienced by all, including those who live with disabilities. The charity connects those living with disabilities to the world of aviation, offering individuals the chance to fly aircraft and see that anything is possible – hence their motto, ‘If I can fly an aeroplane, what else can I do?’
The charity was founded in 1993 and currently supports almost 1,000 disabled people a year to fly one of the charity’s four aircraft. Through the charity, some have been able to secure their Private Pilot Licence.
Mike Miller, CEO of Aerobility, had this to say about the partnership with easyJet:

Not only does it provide a life-changing experience on the night, but it also funds many more life-changing flights at Aerobility, of course with our aircraft being just slightly smaller. We can’t thank everyone at easyJet and all the other companies that make the Aurora Flight possible enough.”
Tickets for the flights can be booked through Aerobility’s page at £349 per person. Discounts will be available for carers, children, and those living with disabilities. All proceeds from the easyJet charity flight will go towards helping support disabled flying at Aerobility.
