Emirates has unveiled an exclusive menu with Bavarian food options to celebrate Oktoberfest. The snacks will be served onboard flights to Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt between 17 September and 2 October. The food options will also be found in respective airport lounges.

Emirates celebrates Oktoberfest with Bavarian menu
All passengers onboard the selected Emirates flights will be treated to a typical German main course and dessert, with snack options available onboard the A380 lounge and a variety of classic Oktoberfest dishes in the world-class airport lounges. And don’t worry, the iconic German pretzel has not been forgotten!
Those passengers in Economy will be treated to roasted chicken and paprika served with creamy mustard sauce, potato wedges and braised red cabbage. To end with something sweet, passengers will be able to indulge in a signature German cream cake with almonds and honey, Bienenstich, served with fruit compote. Those in Business and First Class will be able to indulge in braised veal shank, roasted seasonal vegetables and moreish bread dumplings. First Class passengers can savour the tastes of Dampfnudel for dessert – a traditional southern German sweet steamed bun, with a caramelised bottom and soft fluffy top, drizzled with vanilla sauce and whipped cream. Definitely a mouth-watering sweet treat!

If you are still feeling peckish, an array of snacks and sandwiches will be available on board, including the likes of a Leberwurst sausage sandwich with sweet mustard or an Austrian roll with Emmental cheese and gherkin. Before departing, passengers will be gifted a wrapped Lebkuchenherzen, a gingerbread heart which is a staple food item seen throughout many German festivities.
Those who find themselves relaxing in the lounge areas of Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt before their flight can also be treated to a selection of food varieties including veal Weisswurst with parsley and mustard, Obazda and pretzels and Käsepätzle. Some could describe these options as lecker!

Long standing tradition of Bavarian menu
The release of the Bavarian menu by Emirates is not a new concept. Emirates is known to celebrate many multicultural occasions on its flights each year such as Diwali, Christmas, and Lunar New Year. There have also been some noticeable changes from last year’s Oktoberfest varieties as the airline keeps its menu options updated and interesting.
However, some customers were seen to take to platforms such as LinkedIn to express their disappointment over the menu, claiming it was not traditionally Bavarian. It was also surprising that there was little mention of alcoholic beverages that will be part of the festivities onboard, considering it is Oktoberfest.
Emirates currently offers three daily flights from Dubai to Frankfurt as well as double daily connections to Munich, and daily flights to Dusseldorf and Hamburg. Responding to strong passenger demand, the airline’s winter flight schedule will also see additional flights planned on these routes from October 1st onwards.
Oktoberfest in Munich 2022 begins today, Saturday 17 September and will conclude on Monday 3 October.
