This week brings good news for holiday-goers during the winter season as yesterday, flydubai announced plans of launching a second route to the Maldives. The pathway will depart from Dubai International Airport (DXB) and arrive at Gan International Airport (GAN) in Gan, an island located in the southern Maldives area.
From Dubai to the Maldives: flydubai Launches Second Maldives Route
From February 4th, flydubai will be offering flights to the scenic island via a brand new route. This isn’t the first route flydubai has to the Maldives, as flights to the island’s Velana International Airport have been in operation since 2013. However, this new route certifies the airline as the first UAE carrier to fly to Gan International Airport.
The service will be a daily one, meaning that the total number of flights served by flydubai to the Maldives will become 28 a week.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, spoke on the newest connection between Dubai and the Maldives in a recent statement:
“The start of our daily flights to the southern island of Gan will give our passengers more options to travel to the beautiful Maldives. This new service will reduce the commute time whether by boat or seaplane for those staying in resorts in the southern Atolls. The Maldives continues to be one of the most popular leisure destinations for our customers from the UAE, GCC and CIS.”
The flight schedule will be as follows:
Flight FZ1357 DXB-GAN: 09:15 – 16:00. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flight FZ1358 GAN-DXB: 23:00 – 03:55. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flight FZ1355 DXB-GAN: 02:30 – 09:15. Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Flight FZ1356 GAN-DXB: 10:15 – 15:10. Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In accordance with the airline’s codeshare with Emirates, passengers will be able to book connecting flights from Dubai. The route will operate from DBX’s Terminal 3.
