Dubai-based airline Emirates and U.S.-based United Airlines have announced a new codeshare partnership allowing customers to book seamless travel between the two airlines just six months after they hosted an event in Washington to announce their new partnership.
The codeshare agreement, which comes into effect on March 30th, 2023, will allow Emirates users to enjoy easier US access. The world just got smaller for United and Emirates Airlines users after the two giant airlines kickstarted a codeshare agreement that will increase interlining activities between the two airlines.
Emirates cements its stay in the US
The launch of the codeshare agreement between the two airlines will help enhance customer offerings. Passengers flying to the US with Emirates Airlines can now look forward to having access to over 150 destinations within the United Airlines’ domestic and continental network. These destinations include the Caribbean islands, Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America. Emirates will connect all these destinations from three of the biggest airport hubs in the US: San Fransisco International Airport, O’Hare International Airport (Chicago), and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (Houston).

Emirate users can now fly to the US directly from Dubai and connect on a United Airlines flight in any of these three airports to their final destination within the US, Canada, Mexico, or Central and South America. A delighted Emirates Airlines shared the information on their verified Twitter page.
“We are extremely delighted to activate this historic partnership with United and significantly expand our footprint in the US with United Airlines’ vast network, which will help us to offer more choices to our customer base from across the globe and meet demand from across segments who can now connect seamlessly to and from a broader network of more than 150 domestic points,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer.
United Airlines extend its reach to other regions
While Emirates expands its US network with the codeshare agreement, United Airlines, on the other hand, will extend its reach to other regions worldwide. Passengers from the US can now seamlessly travel to Dubai utilizing United Airlines to connect to Emirates Airlines at the three major hubs. United Airlines passengers from Dubai International Airport can further connect to other destinations across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. A delighted United Airlines shared the news via their verified Twitter page also.
“This codeshare agreement will provide United’s customers with greater access to destinations across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia and builds on our commitment to providing the best possible travel experience,” said Andrew Nocella, United’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Bottom line
The codeshare agreement between the two giant airlines was activated just in time for the upcoming peak summer season. Though it took six months after the initial announcement, the activation is a welcome development to travellers and the aviation world.
The codeshare partnership is expected to benefit both airlines, as it will allow them to offer their customers more travel options while increasing their global reach. It also comes at a time when the aviation industry is slowly recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and airlines are looking for ways to expand their networks and increase revenue.
Customers can start booking travel on codeshare flights from March 30th, 2023, and can find more information on the airlines’ websites or through their travel agents.
