The first flight from Guarulhos International Airport was made on 13 February 2021. The route is set to operate four flights a week with Boeing 767-400 aircraft that features latest Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin services.

Delta’s Managing Director of Latin America, the Caribbean and South Florida, Luciano Macagno said: “The return of Delta’s service between New York and São Paulo reconnects these two great cities and provides customers with a safer travel experience and superior comfort on this important route. Delta’s flights between these two important markets also serve to further connect the U.S. with more of Latin America and the Caribbean. With flights from the U.S. to 36 cities in the region, Delta is ensuring that those customers who need to travel can do so with ease and peace of mind, knowing that the safety of our customers and our employees is Delta’s priority.”

Delta’s cargo division is also set to offer larger cargo capacity to allow its customers to transport larger volumes of essential goods, perishable products and supplies to the US and Brazilian markets.

Safety and health measures upheld

Delta launched the first domestic digital identity test in the US for its passengers earlier this month. For safety of its customers and staff, Delta has added more than 100 layers of protection through its Delta CareStandard  programme and has extended middle or select aisle seat blocking through to 30 April 2021. Through its cargo division, the carrier has been combating the COVID-19 pandemic since December 2020 by shipping COVID-19 vaccines in the United States.
