The incident occurred at 11:45 AM local time (7:45 GMT) at NAIA’s Terminal 3. Flight DG6112 left Naga Airport at 10:32 AM, slightly behind schedule and touched down in Manila at 11:27, according to Flightradar24.com. According to Cebu Pacific, the incident occurred at 11:45 AM, though it has not yet been reported how the plane came off the runway.

Flight schedules disrupted

The aircraft, an ATR 72-600 turboprop, was towed away before 1 PM, and all the passengers aboard departed the airport by 2 PM. Several flights into Manila were cancelled or delayed whilst the plane was being removed. In an advisory, Philippine Airlines (PAL) said that due to the runway obstruction at NAIA, “there will be delays in flight departures and arrivals”.

PAL flights from Manila to London, Dammam, Dubai and Doha were put on hold. Meanwhile, some flights coming into the airport were diverted to Clark International Airport. Cebu Pacific said:

“We are working on normalising our operations as soon as possible. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused, and we thank you for your kind understanding,”

Cebu Pacific is a Low-Cost airline from the Philippines, based at Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City. Cebgo is their regional branch, running a fleet of exclusively ATR 72-500 and -600 turboprop planes.
