Batik Air Expands Indian Network Coverage

Batik Air Malaysia (formerly known as Malindo Air) will restore direct services from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Mumbai, Kochi, and Bangalore, effective in August 2022. This is in response to the strong demand for connectivity to cities in India.

Batik Air’s New Schedule

The first four weekly flight times to Mumbai, OD215, will depart KLIA on 1 August 2022 at 7:15pm and arrive Mumbai at 10:25pm. The returning flight OD216 will depart Mumbai at 11:15pm and arrive KLIA at 7:15am.

Flight OD231 will depart KLIA to Kochi at 9:35pm and arrive at 11:10pm, with the first flight departing on 1 August 2022. Flight OD232 will return to KLIA at 12:10am and arrive at KLIA at 7:05am. The frequency to Kochi also occurs four times a week.

Flight services to Bangalore occurs twice a week, operating every Thursday and Sunday. The first flight will commence on 4 August 2022, departing KLIA at 8:40pm and arriving Bangalore at 10:20pm. Flight OD242 will depart BLR at 11:15pm and arrive at KLIA at 6:05am.

A response to demand

Batik Air Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Captain Mushafinz bin Mustafa Bakri,  has recognised the need for increased services to respond to demand.

“India is an important market in our Indian Sub-Continent network. We are stepping up our services in response to the robust demand for air travel to the cities in India. By October, we will increase our frequency to those cities. Additionally, we are looking at expanding our reach to more cities in this key market. This will offer our customers more flexibility and options in their travel plans.”

Batik Air will also expand its network with new services between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar as well as Kuala Lumpur and Kolkata, effective September 9 and September 30 respectively.

The airline, as reported by The New Straits Times, said the first four times weekly flight to Amritsar would operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Flights to Kolkata will be five times a week, departing Kuala Lumpur International Airport every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

The airline issued a statement regarding the flight expansions.

“We are also happy to announce that apart from having direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, Australia, Batik Air will launch on Sept 15, additional flights to Perth via Denpasar, Indonesia.”

With the abolishment of the mandatory quarantine and the ability to now travel freely between India and Malaysia, Batik Air Malaysia is excited to introduce their new connectivity to more cities in India.
