American Airlines is set to commence daily flights linking Dallas, Texas, with Auckland in New Zealand. American Airlines is adding a new flight to its schedule just a few days after announcing that it has continued to make a profit.

Starting from Saturday, October 29, 2022, American Airlines will connect Dallas and Auckland via direct flights with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The flight will take off from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and land at Auckland Airport (AKL).

The direct flight from Dallas to Auckland is part of American Airlines’ initiative to use the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as its international hub for flights going into Asia and those coming in from Asia.

The flight is a necessary one

New Zealand is renowned for its beautiful scenery, fine wine, relaxed culture, and rich history. Auckland is one of the most beautiful cities in the Oceanian country and a major city in New Zealand. With a population of about 2 million, Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand. The city is also a welcoming one for Americans and tourists from all over the world.

About the flight

The flight between the two cities is scheduled to take as much as 15 hours and 1 minute to complete the 7,464-mile journey, while the return flight will take just about 13 hours and 45 minutes. The time difference is because of the rotation of the earth. Hence, westbound flights take longer than the same route, eastbound.

Declan Mole of New Zealand’s Tourism Board thinks the new route will shrink the world for New Zealanders. He had this to say to FOX 4;

“Some think New Zealand is quite far away, but with the launch of this service, we are connected more than ever before through this hub at DFW.”

Auckland Airport general manager aeronautical commercial Scott Tasker has this to say on the recent development;

“We know interest from North Americans in a trip to New Zealand is at record levels, so as we welcome international travellers back to great Kiwi summer for the first time in nearly three years, this non-stop service will provide a great option to connect between the United States and New Zealand.”

In another statement, the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport manager said that the new route would connect New Zealand to over 200 destinations that the airport serves as the second most connected airport in the world.

“The addition of a non-stop service to Auckland caps off a year of significant international growth at DFW. Our customers will benefit from not only a new destination they can get to from our airport but an additional opportunity to visit the southern hemisphere and a chance to enjoy New Zealand’s largest city and all it has to offer.”
