AirAsia announces new flight route to Andaman Islands

AirAsia, an airline based in the country of Malaysia had recently announced new flight routes from Singapore to the Andaman Islands in India. In a recent press release, the low budget airline has announced new routes to Port Blair in Andamans. Already having routes to India and domestic ones within India as well, this new route will be AirAsia’s shortest Indian route. To add to the already extensive services which AirAsia provides, the low budget airline is the only international airline to cover this route making it even more historic for the company.

Located in the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in the Bay of Bengal, is the unique and breathtaking Andaman Islands. The Islands known for its beautiful scenery and aqua marine life, attracts a lot of tourists for sightseeing and holidays. Known for the beaches and scenic views, the Andaman Islands are a destination which travellers who love to explore places should definitely have on their bucket list. Tourists engage in the various activities available in the islands such as snorkeling, jet skiing, scuba diving, trekking. Moreover, for explorers the Andaman Islands offers various sites which are museums, island hopping and visiting monumental places in the island.

More about the new route

The route originates from Singapore with a stop at Kuala Lumpur and then the Andaman Islands. With 11 daily operational flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, the new route will have three flights flying weekly to the Andaman Islands. This route ticks yet another box for the airline company with regard to the extensive operations of the airline. Currently, the low budget airline has routes to 17 Indian cities from Singapore including the capital of India, New Delhi. The airline also operates further International and domestic flights within and from India. This new route can be considered a great addition to the airline and helps connect regionally as well as attract more customers from around the world.

The effort in increasing regional connectivity is a massive boost to the countries as well as the airline, in recent times IndiGo Airlines has been an example in boosting  regional connectivity. More tourists means more business for the AirAsia and more tourism for both Singapore and India. With airlines looking to enhance operations in ways such as fleet enhancement, AirAsia is doing the same with route modification as well as regional connectivity and seems to be heading in a positive direction.
