Aeroplan wins Best Earning and Redemption Ability

Aeroplan, the customer loyalty program of Canada’s flag carrier Air Canada, has won the category of Best Earning and Redemption Ability for the Americas region at the 2022 FT People’s Awards.

The Frequent Traveler Awards are an award event centred around travel loyalty programs. They were originally introduced in 2010 to compensate for a 2-year pause of the largest travel loyalty awards, the Freddie Awards. They then returned in 2018 and have been running every year since, recognizing excellence in loyalty programs globally.

The FT People’s Awards is a branch of the FT Awards that is decided by members of loyalty programs around the world via global surveys. This year, it recognized Aeroplan for its extensive air reward program, which had already won for Best Redemption Ability at the 2022 Freddie Awards.

Air Canada’s Revamped Aeroplan Program

Air Canada completely revamped its Aeroplan loyalty program in 2020, with the goal of putting the members’ experience first. This new Aeroplan offers flight rewards for thousands of destinations worldwide, allowing members to redeem their points for free flights on Air Canada as well as over 45 partner airlines. Points can also be redeemed on hotels, car rentals, merchandise and gift cards.

In addition to points, Aeroplan also offers many perks, such as no carrier surcharges, an integrated booking experience, or the ability to add a stopover to an international itinerary. Points can also be shared with family members through the Family Sharing feature.

“We believe that becoming the best travel loyalty program starts with making rewards rewarding for our members, and that’s why it’s such an honor to earn this recognition,” said Scott O’Leary, Air Canada’s Vice President, Loyalty and Product.
