A Promising Taste of Kvarner On Croatia Airlines Flights Until 30th November 2023

The Kvarner Region Tourist Board, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and Croatia Airlines are collaborating on a promotional taste named Flavours of Kvarner.

Irena Peršić Živadinov, CEO at the Kvarner Region Tourist Board, said:

“This project that promotes the gastronomy of our county on Croatia Airlines’ flights is not only an integral part of our long-standing collaboration with Croatia’s flag carrier but is also the launch of our promotion of Kvarner as a European Region of Gastronomy in 2026.

I believe that passengers will enjoy the specific foods of the region of Kvarner on their flights and that this little “gastro tour” will inspire them to visit and explore us.”

The meals served on Croatia Airlines aircraft will be uniquely prepared between August 1st and November 30th, 2023. The Kvarner Region’s culinary diversity will influence the menu, which combines the culinary traditions of its coastline, mountains, and islands.

A large snack box containing tuna spread, herb crackers, green and black olives, traditional flourless biscuits native to the Island of Rab starring chocolate, almonds, ground cinnamon and cloves, and olive oil called mutaoni, and smokvenjak or traditional fig cake starring only figs and grape spirit or rakia will be served in the business class of Croatia Airlines’ domestic and international flights.

A small snack box with tuna spread, herb crackers, and smokvenjak will be provided on shorter flights, while guests travelling in economy class can enjoy Kvarner-region herb-flavoured crackers.

Flavours of Kvarner

This initiative is a unique chance to promote Kvarner as a culinary and a range of other experiences, in addition to delivering extraordinary gourmet experiences on Croatia Airlines’ flights to 24 foreign and eight local locations.

The three project partners—the Kvarner Region Tourist Board, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and Croatia Airlines—will collaborate on a larger marketing effort to advertise the Flavours of Kvarner on Croatia Airlines flights.

Kvarner will be promoted specifically through Croatia Airlines’ internal channels, such as its in-flight magazine, video screens in Croatia Airlines’ aircraft, Croatia Airlines’ newsletter, advertisements on Croatia Airlines’ social media sites and platforms, and internal communications, posters in the company’s offices, and a special web subpage containing information on Croatia Airlines’ offer of foods and drinks.

Slaven abo, Commercial Division Director at Croatia Airlines, explains that

In the next months, passengers flying on all our international and domestic flights will have the chance to experience the flavours of Kvarner, whose diversity is based on the meeting of the Mediterranean and continental climates.

We are happy that the partnership between all those who partake in this project contributes to the promotion of this particular region of Croatia, thereby further developing Croatia’s tourism product.

Kvarner Region and Croatia Airlines

Today, Kvarner is a prosperous tourist destination that distinguishes out in part because of its excellent wines and cuisine. This is supported by the recent designation of the Kvarner area as a European area of Gastronomy.

So far, the flavours of Slavonia’s delicacies and Dalmatia’s brunch called marenda have been presented in this way, and now the creativity of the culinary traditions of Kvarner will be presented in the best possible way, which will make flights for passengers more pleasant, beautiful, and interesting.
